4.5 Stars!

The summer of her dreams is about to get a reality check.

They said it couldn't be done, but geeky sophomore Lauren Carlson transformed herself into a popular girl after moving to a new school halfway across the country. Amazing what losing her braces and going out for cheerleading will do. Only trouble is, the popular crowd is wearing on Lauren's nerves and she can't wait to return to summer camp where she's valued for her brain instead of her handsprings. She misses her old friends and most of all, her long time camp-only boyfriend, Seth. This year she intends to upgrade their relationship to year-round status once she's broken up with her new, jock boyfriend, Matt. He doesn't even begin to know the real her, a girl fascinated by the night sky who dreams of discovering new planets and galaxies.

But Matt isn't giving her up without a fight. As he makes his case to stay together, Lauren begins to realize his feelings run deeper than she ever would have guessed. What if the guy she thought she was meant to be with forever isn't really The One? Returning to Camp Juniper Point was supposed to ground her uprooted life, but she's more adrift than ever. Everything feels different and soon Lauren's friends are turning on her and both guys question what she really wants. As summer tensions escalate, Lauren wonders if she's changed more than she thought. Will her first big discovery be herself?

My Interview with Seth and Matt!

Jen: Hey guys, thanks for taking time out of your busy camp schedule to chat with me. *settles between the guys and hands out s'more cupcakes*   A lot of readers have read CAMP KISS and are familiar with Seth, but I wanted to give them a chance to get to know BOTH of you a little better.

*crickets*

Jen: Sorry, I got a little distracted there for a minute, you know, because of the cool hair and um, muscles.  Anyway...What made you want to go to camp this summer?  Btw, It's totally cool if you say Lauren.

Matt: Seriously? I'm the one who is here for Lauren. You can forget what this Seth guy says. Does he even know her? I've been here for her all year.

Seth:  Dude. I’ve known Lauren for years. Yeah. Plural. And I loved Lauren before she lost her braces, got contacts, and started using a straightening iron. Matt, you might think you know Lauren, but you don’t know the girl that wades into the mud to release tadpoles with me and you didn’t give her her first kiss. That will always be ours. In fact, that kiss is what brings me to camp every year. We call it the FKOC- short for First Kiss of Camp- and I look forward to it the minute summer ends until next season begins.

*pats both boys on the knee*  This is why I volunteered to sit between the two of you, to keep the bloodshed to a minimum.

Jen: Describe yourself in three words.

Matt:  Pressured. Loyal. Hungry.

Seth:  Laid-back, friendly, lover-not-fighter

Matt: Uh- can we add cheater to Seth’s list since that was five words… he’s the science guy, shouldn’t he know how to count?!

*looks at Matt* You seem a little cranky, have another cupcake.
*turns to Seth, raises brow*  Let's play by the rules, m'kay?

Jen: Next question, if you had to eat one thing every day for the rest of your life (three times a day), what would it be?

Matt: Quesadillas, Tex-Mex style. I could live on that stuff.

Seth: Gorp- that trail-mix stuff that gets you through a long day of mountain hiking. Since I hike whenever I can, I could eat it for the rest of my life. I like mine with extra cashews and enough raisins to balance out the salt. (okay- and a lot of M&Ms)

Jen: What's the most important quality you look for in a girlfriend?

Matt: She's not just looking out for herself, you know? She thinks about other people.
Seth: A girl who’s confident and real- not fake. She doesn’t try to act like anyone else or be cool to fit in. Also- a sense of humor and a smile that lights up the world- or mine at least.

Jen: If CAMP BOYFRIEND were made into a movie, and you could choose a Superhero or an Avenger to play you, who would you choose?

Matt: Do NFL players count as superheroes? Because I'm thinking I'd need someone with a good arm to pull off the football moves. But, okay, quit frowning at me. I get that's not the answer you were going for. Superheroes, huh?  <thinks hard. snaps fingers.> I got it. I'm going with Thor. That guy could definitely hold his own.

Seth: Thor?! Spiderman would take that guy down with a web flick. He won’t throw lightning once I have him trapped and he’s definitely not getting the girl since he can’t pull the upside down kiss move like I can. And yeah. Lauren and I tried that once only the branch broke and I wore a neck brace I couldn’t explain for a week.

That Spidey kiss was hot!  And its the hair Seth. Thor has great hair.

Jen: We get to know you both pretty well in CAMP BOYFRIEND and aside from the fact that you're both really nice to look at, what is one thing that might surprise readers to learn about you? (It can be your favorite food, song, color, etc.)

Matt: I may have sang a One Direction song out loud once. *Feel free to do it again, I won't mind.*

Seth: Even though Spiderman’s my favorite superhero- spiders creep me out. Don’t put one down my shirt like my Wander Inn bunkmate Julian did… I will freak out.

Jen: Uh, yeah, a spider down the shirt would be grounds for justifiable homicide. Okay, last question. Why should Lauren pick YOU to be her boyfriend?

Matt: I'm looking out for her. Thinking about her. Doesn't that matter to girls? *Jen nods vigorously* I've got her back. Not just now or this summer. But... damn. Always.

Seth:  Because we’re meant to be. We’ve been best friends forever and more than that for two years. *Jen swoons*  It’s been hard to commit to being a full-time boyfriend since I keep thinking she’ll be like my mom and never come back to me. But Lauren’s never let me down and this year I’m ready to be her year-round boyfriend. She’s always had my heart and I know I’ll never get it back, no matter whom she chooses. Man. I hope it’s me.

Jen: This summer will be unforgettable for sure, thanks guys! Yes, Matt, you can take the rest of the cupcakes with you. ;)
