5 STARS!

In this second book in The Superlatives trilogy from Endless Summer author Jennifer Echols, Harper and Brody think they’re an unlikely match, but the senior class says they belong together.

As yearbook photographer, Harper is responsible for those candid moments that make high school memorable. But her own life is anything but picture perfect. Her parents’ bitter divorce left her wondering what a loving relationship looks like. And ever since the senior class voted her and star quarterback Brody the “Perfect Couple That Never Was,” her friends have been pushing her to ask Brody out.

Brody doesn’t lack female admirers, but Harper can't see herself with him. He’s confused about the match too. Yet they find themselves drawn together—first by curiosity about why the class paired them, then by an undeniable bond.

The trouble is, though they’re attracted to each other, they have a hard time getting along or even communicating clearly. If they’re the perfect couple, this shouldn’t be so difficult! Soon it becomes clear their class was wrong, and they throw in the towel. But they feel so changed from making the effort, they can’t forget each other. What if this match made in hell is the perfect couple after all?

What I Loved: For the record, Sawyer is mine. I claim him. Moving on.

The Perfect Couple is fast, fresh and hilariously swoony! Brody and Harper appear to be polar opposites. Where he is outgoing, friendly and impulsive, she is reserved, creative and likes to keep the peace. But together, they make sparks fly!

I have to mention that I read and thoroughly enjoyed The Biggest Flirts, book one in this series, but I didn't really care for Tia. Odd, considering she was the main female character. HOWEVER, I freaking LOVED her in The Perfect Couple! I don't know if it was because we aren't in her head anymore or if she just grew on me, but I laughed so hard I cried during a lot of her appearances.

One of the things I like about this series is how it pokes fun at the idea of the Superlatives--categorizing people based on achievements--while at the same time, examining more somber topics like family, friendship, teen drinking, promiscuity (for both guys and girls) and not being afraid to be your own person. There is also quite a bit of kissing too - always a plus!

What Left Me Wanting More: I NEED SAWYER'S STORY!

Final Verdict: Excellent addition to the Superlatives Series!

Favorite Quote(s):
"Sawyer's middle name might as well have been Dammit."

"I feel like a pervert," I said.
"You should. That is disgusting. Be sure to e-mail me a copy."

"Everybody in my family is divorced. My parents, grandparents, everybody. Christmas day might as well be Halloween, because it's like we're going from house to house, trick-or-treating." <-- I read this one out loud to my husband because he and I can SO relate to it.

"I've never felt more comfortable than I do right now, right here, with you. If this was taken away from me, I would fight to get it back."

"Listen to me," she said, patting the table for emphasis. "We old people are not making this sh*t up."
